Your 3D Ultrasound Ohio Options

By Jocelyn Davidson

You can get the best view of your unborn child with a sonogram. Your sonogram operator or doctor can offer you the chance to get a 3d ultrasound Ohio, meaning it is a three dimensional DVD of your child when you have a checkup done. Steps for completion could vary, but outcomes are all the same even if you go to a different office to have it completed.

The general time frame for having this type completed is between twenty-eight and thirty-two weeks of gestation. This gives the parents the option of seeing details on their baby unlike a normal 2 dimensional picture does. The third dimension offers depth perception, better viewing of length and girth as well as a good idea of the sexual organs that are sometimes missed at the first visit.

This can be requested as early as your fifth month but would not have as good a result when it comes to details. The growth your baby goes through is critical to what you will see, so monitoring growth in this way is good but may not offer you ideal results this early. Other ways to keep track of his or her growth would include abdominal measurements, to see that there is enough fluid and there are no abnormalities in size.

The session will start by uncovering your abdomen and laying flat on the exam table while the doctor squirts a little clear gel onto the area they will begin at. It is water based, therefore no staining should take place on clothes. The transducer or wand is put on top of the cold jelly so that sound waves that the machine produces can be sent easier and reflected off of your child as to show a form.

The transducer is then moved to different areas to get a full view of the body. There are different methods for this, including trans-vaginal, perineum and surface planing. This means that any of the three could be used to get a full view of the child. It is not required to use more than one type to get your imaging.

Many doctors will ask you to increase your water consumption for a minimum of a week before you have an appointment to keep the amniotic fluid plentiful and clear. Using the trans-vaginal transducer to enter the vagina will offer good views, while the perineum offers a good view from below much like abdominal planes offer views from above. All three combined leaves a full view of just about every angle.

You could use just one and have an ideal image. When you are done, the screen will show you a perfect picture of what your baby looks like including the facial features, toes, fingers and possibly the sex.

Your insurance will not pay for a third dimension type if considered a keepsake. This is still an option for you, however it will need to be paid for by other means in most cases. You should check your coverage for further information. For more options, speak with your obstetrician.
