You Will Love Having A Blue Henon Bamboo Tree

By Ruthie Calderon

All bamboos are the fastest growing plants because of its mass of roots. These roots or rhizomes develop from auxiliary buds and will grow at right angles to the force of gravity. They will keep their shape and allow any new shoots to grow in the air. This part is where all nutrients as well as proteins and starches are stored until needed. Of all the species of bamboo the blue henon bamboo tree is by far the most popular as it will form a fence of sorts allowing for more privacy.

As they become older the poles turn from a green colour and a grey and a wax like dust forms. If they are planted in a shady area they will change into a sky blue colour. They are able to grow to six inches in diameter and many use them in the makings of furniture.

The Phyllostachys Nigra or the Henon Giant Gray can grow to very great heights and is also able to grow in many shaded areas as well. It seems to also do very well where the soil is poor and the watering is infrequent. This one is very hardy and as it ages the canes will change from an olive green to grey in colour. The canes are of high quality when it comes to wood and is frequently sought after by craftsmen.

The above one is used extensively in many business-related applications as it has a rather low need to be maintained. It also has a very pretty appearance. They were planted at the Turtle Back Zoo when they were preparing to introduce the White Handed Gibbons. Many other species were considered but because these were large it would allow the Gibbons to swing and climb just like in their natural habitat.

They offer a wide variety of different fast growing bamboo plants as well and the colours of the canes come in blue, green, black as well as yellow. They will vary in height but they are all hardy and can withstand temperatures falling to below zero. The Alphonse Karr Bamboo Plant is the most popular as it makes a perfect fence and is also very pleasing to look.

Many weapons have also been made out of these and are still used in Asian martial arts. The bamboo staff has one end sharpened and is used in the art silambam. In Indian culture the stave is used for gatka and is mainly used because it is light in weight. They are also popular in the making of the bow in archery and bow-hunting.

As it grows the stalks will begin to creep over the rim of the plastic and this is when one will need to trim them down. Fill the container with soil and if one prefers they can score the roots before lowering it into the container although this is not necessary as the roots will unravel and descend over time. Fill it up to the top with more soil and fertilise it with grass fertilizer.

There as some that are considered to be dwarf plants while others can reach over fifty feet tall. Usually they will go through a growth spurt within the first three months and then gradually finish over the next year or so. Many will be able to survive is freezing conditions and even if their leaves do die the rhizomes will still be able to produce sprouts during the next warm season.
